(TibetanReview.net, Mar11, 2018) – Hundreds of people carrying Tibetan national flags and banners calling for an end to the Chinese occupation of Tibet and respect for Tibetan human rights staged a rally in London on Mar 10 to mark the 59th Tibetan National Uprising Day.
The participants gathered and staged a rally at Richmond Terrace, opposite Downing Street, including with a singing of the national anthem. They then marched towards the Chinese Embassy at Portland place.
A demonstration was held opposite the Chinese embassy. The participants held a one-minute silence to mourn for those who had lost their lives under the Chinese occupation and then conducted a prayer ceremony.
The event was organised jointly by the four largest Tibet organisations in the UK: Free Tibet, Students for a Free Tibet, Tibet Society and Tibetan Community UK.
We should have an even bigger turnout next year if we can, for the 60th anniversary.
